		<description>Scott, I tried signing my credit cards with &quot;Ask for ID&quot;, but:

1. Store cashiers hardly ever check the signature, it seems, so whether it&#039;s a signature or a &quot;check for ID&quot;, it doesn&#039;t seem to matter much; and

2. When using my credit card at the post office, the person working there said that without a valid signature on the card, they could not accept it for payment.  (Since it was also my debit card, I was able to use it for payment by putting in my PIN, but if it had been a vanilla credit card, they would not have accepted it without having a signature on the back.)  Do you know if a real signature is legally required, or was this just a quirk of one person at one post office?
