I keep a donate bag in my closet and recently put a big, warm wool sweater in the bag after not wearing it on my last ski trip. I'm pretty sure I haven't worn them since. Charlotte, NC doesn't get that cold. I don't have a problem getting rid of other stuff, just sweaters. Maybe it's nostalgia. I also like the paper bag suggestion. I'm going to try that. It helps you to face the facts about the stuff you like but will never actually wear again. You can also try putting doubtful items in a trash bag.
